IPv6 to Be Adopted Soon

In the next 500 days or so Internet will run out of addresses. Currently, the Internet uses IPv4 numbering system. The Number Resource Organization (NRO), the official representative of the five Regional Internet Registries (RIRs) that oversee the allocation of all Internet number resources has already urged everyone to migrate to IPv6 numbering system.

IPv6 is a better and more advanced numbering system that offers more addresses as compared to IPv4 numbering system. Currently less than 10% IPv4 addresses are left and there are strong calls to migrate to IPv6 numbering system in the coming days.

IPv6 system is more advanced and will be able to support the millions of new people and devices in the coming times. It was not anticipated that IPv4addresses will run out so soon.

It is being stressed that most of the devices these days including mobile phones, laptops, servers, routers and various other devices need IPaddresses.

Number Resource Organization is trying to create awareness that it is very essential to switch to IPv6 as soon as possible. It is working with network operators, companies, Governments, people and also spreading awareness and wants to implement IPv6. The agency feels that it will be beneficial for all the stakeholders to switch to IPv6 systems.
